The Warmth of the Creek.

Beginnings.

This is the first drawing of the Hat Ladies series . This project started in April of 2010. I look forward to the warmer weather so I can get back to painting on Johns Island with the ladies. nfs. this is a gift to my brother and sister inlaw for Christmas. It will be at the Hat Lady show in March of 2012.

Resting

It is interesting to have repeat models. Fritz is evolving as a model just as we are evolving at drawing. This drawing is reflective of his dramatic side . With timed drawings you often dont see the big picture until the time is up. When reviewing this drawing , I thought it interesting that the background and foreground both reflect the shape of the cross

The Beautiful Hat Ladies of Hollywood South Carolina.

Exciting day. This 8x10 painting was juried into the Mojo Art Show , opening tonight. I have been working on a body of work that hopefully captures the grace and traditions of these ladies wearing their hats and amazing dresses , shoes , purses, and jewels. The ladies are from Hollywood, South Carolina . We meet several times a month I paint and they tell me stories, sing, pray, and together it is magic. nfs. until March of 2012 just found out that the painting received honorable mention. Yeah.... .
